A day of art-making inspired by life's unexpected moments. Collage, painting, charcoal - we’ll explore it all and create something amazing!

What can you make with a handful of beads, some embroidery floss and a little imagination? Quite a lot, as it turns out!
At our recent session with students at Sacred Heart College Geelong, we explored fashion, self-expression and creativity through jewellery making.
The session was inspired by “Op Shop Fashion” as a theme and the Sacred Heart Runway at Melbourne Fashion Week. We talked about how expressing your personal style doesn't need to come with a big price tag! Op shopping can be a great way to experiment, discover what you love and create a look that's entirely your own.
Students experimented with embroidery floss, beading, wire and jewellery-making tools, learning how to use crimp beads, lobster clasps and wire tools to create their own statement pieces.
There was something special about watching a group of young people go from “I don't know how to do this” to proudly wearing something they'd made themselves.
When co-design and young people's creativity take over, our workshops always lead to unexpected, surprising and often wonderful results.

We're inviting young artists aged 8–16 to submit an Expression of Interest for Tinted Glass, an exhibition coming to 100 Story Building in December.
And this isn't just any exhibition…Tinted Glass is curated by our Futuremakers – a group of young people who help shape what happens here at 100 Story Building.
We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

What happens when we shake things up and invite a little randomness into the classroom?
The Story Hubs Forum: Randomising the Curriculum is a free professional development session for educators who want to harness creativity to ignite curiosity, connection and storytelling in the young people they work with.
Come along to explore playful approaches to learning, creative thinking and storytelling and leave with ideas you can take straight back into the classroom.

The start of September saw our Creative Learning Leads out and about, sharing 100 Story Building's creative writing practice with educators and library professionals at two sector conferences. On Friday 4 September, Rhianna hosted a workshop at the Australia Literacy Educators’ Association (ALEA) Conference. Paris held a hands on workshop for Library workers at the Public Libraries Victoria (PLV) Conference on Monday 7 September.
Both sessions invited participants to explore creative writing through experiential, playful and tactile activities, offering new ways into writing for young people who might find the blank page a little daunting.
We're proud to be part of conversations about new ways into creativity and learning, particularly at a time when educators, libraries and the broader sector are navigating some big challenges.
We have some wonderful news to celebrate!
100 Story Building has been highly commended in the Resilient Australia Awards for our work with Maribyrnong City Council and cohealth on the children's picture book We Watched Our River Rise.
The project brought together young people affected by the Maribyrnong floods to share their experiences, stories and perspectives through creativity and picture-book making.
We're incredibly proud of the young people whose voices shaped this work and grateful to have been part of a project that demonstrates the power of storytelling to build connection, community and resilience.
A huge congratulations to everyone involved. 💙
