The August ENEWS is out now! It's been a big month with lots of news to share. Read about exciting upcoming events, including the Story Hubs Forum, Spring Holiday workshops and Futuremakers exhibition EOIs now open.

In July 2026, after nine years on the Board and eight years as Chair, Sandeep Varma concluded his role as Chair of the 100 Story Building Board. 100 Story Building thanks Sandeep for his curiosity, care and thoughtful leadership and wishes him a fond farewell.

100 Story Building’s Intern Dhika recently sat in on the Story Hubs Forum and wrote this reflection piece about his experience.

It’s the depths of winter, Term 3 is upon us but here at 100 Story Building we’ve hardly been hibernating. In fact, we have been embracing Shellbert*  here in our HQ since the launch of the Perfectly Normal Human Writers Anthology.

It’s been a busy and exciting time at 100 Story Building, with young writers, artists and educators bringing bold ideas to life across our programs.

Term 2 is buzzing! Early Harvest 2026 is underway with its wildest theme yet, Otherwise: A mapping of miscellaneous worlds, brought to life by author mentor Hilary Badger (H.I. Larry) and a brilliant creative team. The FutureMakers have unveiled a vibrant new mural, and our winter holiday workshops are coming this July.

As 2025 ends, we’re grateful for our 100 Story Building community! This year brought storytelling clubs, We Watched Our River Rise, and creative programs across Victoria. In 2026, we’re excited to grow, welcome new staff, and offer more opportunities for young storytellers. Wishing you a joyful holiday season, we can’t wait for the next chapter!

As the year wraps up, we’re celebrating creativity and community! Highlights include the launch of We Watched Our River Rise, a book by young people of Maribyrnong reflecting resilience through poetry, stories, and art. This December, Primary School educators are invited to the StoryHubs Teacher Forum with keynote Alice Pung OAM, exploring storytelling and creative pedagogy.

This school holidays at 100 Story Building, young adventurers can join Magic Time Dinosaurs or The Library of Unwritten Futures . Students have been creating new Story Hubs, imaginative worlds, and short films, bringing their stories to life through art and storytelling. We’re also hiring a Creative Learning Lead to help spark imagination in schools and communities!

In our September Newsletter we’re diving into Spring School Holiday adventures, welcoming our new Creative Programs Manager, celebrating the Moonee Valley Book Club, and opening bookings for Term 4 workshops!
