Early Harvest 7 Launched!

The dream guards tried their best to scare away the audience but the young editors bravely battled their way to officially launch Early Harvest 7 this weekend! We thank the parents, teachers, principals and 100 Story Building champions for attending the event and children's author Tony Wilson for officially launching the book. The highlight of the event was the experiences shared by the young editors and writers, including their experience of asking Australian Children's Laureate Morris Gleitzman to rework his story if he wanted it published in the book. Here's how Airin, one of the Early Harvest editors, described their experience on the day: "I learned a lot about the editing process, how we had to get in all the submissions, read through hundreds of submissions and then the toughest part, select which stories and poems would get inside the magazine. We, as a team invited in submissions, edited stories commissions illustrators and appointed illustrators to each story. I must say we did do a good job."The theme of Early Harvest 7 is DREAMS! Here you’ll meet a sell-out Rockstar being chased across alternate dimensions by the Police of the Universe, BFF’s facing their biggest fears, multiple volcanoes, a dream gobbling monster, wereverines with knife-like claws, and a very fancy moustache. You will read stories, poems, games and quizzes. Here's what Morris Gleitzman had to say about Early Harvest in a recent Guardian Australia article: "I think handing over a whole publishing structure like this to young people is a really good way of giving them extra dimensions to their own writing." Early Harvest 7 featuring 12 young writers and Morris Gleitzman is available for sale at Readings Kids and our online shop.
